El Perro Del Hortelano English

Can someone give me a basic plot summary of El Perro del Hortelano in English?

I’m reading the play in Spanish and having trouble understanding what’s going on.

El perro del hortelano (The Dog in the Manger), also called La condesa de Belflor (The Countess of Belflor), is one of Lope de Vega’s most popular comedies, and also one of his funniest ones. In it, Diana, the Countess of Belflor, discovers that she has fallen in love with her servant, Teodoro, through jealousy, which as he would say, are what, inverted, make love blossom in Diana: “I don’t understand how it can be that love blossoms from jealousy, as it was always its father”.

The two main appeals of this play are first the messes that Diana triggers and secondly the ingenious plot that Tristan will use so that Teodoro, his master, extracts himself the situation unscathed. Transgressing the social mores of the time and making love prevail are the driving forces of the play, which is resolved with the consent of the audience, whom Lope did not let in on the secret.
